Tour duration: 12 hours
Daytrip in 8 seater to the Somme WW I sites at Villers-Bretonneux, Le Hamel, Pozières, Thiepval and Beaumont Hamel
We visit the sites where the Battle of the Somme was fought between June and November 1916. Memorials and cemeteries at Pozières and Thiepval recall the huge losses which were suffered for a negligible territorial gain.
At Villers-Bretonneux we visit sites which recall Australia's role in the battles of April 1918 to counter the German spring offensive and eventually push them back. The Sir John Monash Centre tells the story of Australian soldiers on the Western Front in France and Belgium.
Do you want to see the biggest crater which was created by a 60, 000 lb underground mine? I will take you to Lochnagar Crater during this tour.
