Tour duration: 10 hours

Antwerp is at the same time a European culture city, the world centre for diamonds, the second biggest port in Europa and the home town of the Flemish baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens.

Antwerp is situated at the river Schelde. On various locations you will see references to a hand. Do you want to know why? I will tell you the ancient legend which is at the base of the hand being the symbol of Antwerp.

Peter Paul Rubens lived and worked in Antwerp in the first half of the 17th century. Do you wish to see some of his most famous paintins and where he made them? Discover the secrets of Rubens on my tour.

Itinerary

You are picked up at and brought back to the cruise terminal of Zeebrugge or Antwerp or at your hotel in Brussels or in a radius of 100 kms (60 miles) of Brussels.

During our walk we devote attention to the Market Square with the Town Hall and the beautiful "Golden Age" Guild Houses, the Cathedral of Our Lady with the "Elevation of the Cross" and the "Descent from the Cross" by Rubens, the baroque Carolus Borromeus church and the shopping area.

By car we pay attention to the old harbour, to the Central Station (the fourth most beautiful according to Newsweek), and to a lot of modern architecture, for example the new Palace of Justice by Richard Rogers, the "Museum aan de Stroom" by Neutelings Riedijk and the new Port House by Zaha Hadid.

The tour can be customized; it is a proposal, open to questions, changes, remarks and suggestions. You will find me flexible on the day, both with regards to timing and contents.

My Volkswagen Caravelle has space of 7 passengers and their luggage.
